What are the 16-year-old “scene kids” listening to these days?  Is the “scene” still a thing?  Was it ever a thing?  Are circle pits still happening?  Are girls still painting raccoon tails into their hair?  Do dudes still wear girl jeans?  If I went to a pop-punk show today would I be the oldest person there?  I just feel completely out of the loop.

Where’s your landslide?
Where’s your victory?
Tell me now, where’s your sting?

Now that you have been disarmed,
We will cross over unharmed.

This is the second to last of the weird “electronica” songs that I wrote way back in the day.  This one is appropriately titled “Get Your Groove On” (Alternate title: “Getcho Groove On”).   It is a truly ridiculous song, but the last 30 seconds or so still make me smile.  It’s warm outside!

Okay, so perhaps this requires some explaining. I’ve recently begun watching the hit television series Breaking Bad, which featured a really great song in the closing moments of an episode.  So of course, I Googled the lyrics and discovered that it was written by a guy named Glen Phillips, who just happens to be the lead singer of Toad the Wet Sprocket (you know, the band that had that one song that they overplayed on the radio), which leads us to this.  This is a terrible video for a slightly cheesy power ballad, but oh man, do I love a good power ballad.  I’m pretty sure that if I hadn’t been 4 years old when this album was released, I would have been a huge fan.  And yes, I realize that I’m about 3 years behind on Breaking Bad.  I’ve been busy.

I now officially have 3 and a half new songs written for a future album, which is actually quite an accomplishment these days.  It’s funny how my creativity always returns when the last thing I should be doing is making music.
